Department: Department of Health and Wellness Location: Khayelitsha District Hospital Salary: R338 106 per annum Requirements: Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate National Diploma in Electrical Engineering – Light current (T-or N- or S – Stream) or registration as Engineering Technician in terms of the Engineering Professions of South Africa Act, (Act 46 of 2000). Experience: Appropriate experience with repair and maintenance of clinical equipment or proven experience in medical equipment maintenance. Inherent requirements of the job: A valid (Code B/EB) drivers’ licence. Perform standby duties and willing to work afterhours. Competencies (knowledge/skills): The ability to perform, manage and supervise the repair of Health Technology equipment. Ability to read circuit diagrams, fault-finding abilities on electronic medical equipment. Ability to compile technical specifications for Health Technology equipment. Ability to manage, plan and organise maintenance schedules. Possess accurate technical ability and insight to solve problems. Duties: Manage and carry out clinical maintenance, repairs, routine inspection and evaluation of electronic, respiratory and anaesthetic equipment. General administrative duties as required i.e. Write reports, specifications and record keeping of departmental activities. Ensure a high standard of service delivery by engaging with clients and perform optimally in the workplace by self- managing. Train various staff and hospital personnel. Candidate must attend meetings and be able to communicate effectively with hospital staff and private sector employees. Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
