Department: Department of Health and Wellness Location: Karl Bremer Hospital Salary: Grade 1: R495 423 per annum Grade 2: R607 350 per annum Requirements: Minimum educational qualification: Basic R425 qualification (Diploma/Degree in Nursing) or equivalent qualification (R683 plus R254) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse. A post-basic nursing qualification of at least one year accredited with the SANC in: Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Critical Care Nursing (General) (R212), or Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Critical Care Nursing: Trauma and Emergency (R212), or Four-year Bachelor Degree in Nursing (R174), OR Equivalent qualification (R683 plus R1497 or R171 plus R1497) allowing registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse. A Postgraduate Diploma (R635) accredited in: Emergency Nursing, or Critical Care Nursing (Adult). Registration with a professional council: Registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse. Experience: Grade 1: A minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. Grade 2: A minimum of 14 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. At least 10 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognisable experience after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification or post graduate diploma in the specific specialty. Inherent requirements of the job: Willingness to work shifts (weekends, public holidays and night duty and overtime). Competencies (knowledge/skills): Excellent verbal and written communication skills communication and basic computer literacy skills ((MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices in the field of speciality. Ability to promote quality through the setting, implementation, and the monitoring of nursing standards in the Emergency Centre. Ability to function independently as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team, effective communication, interpersonal, decision making, conflict resolution skills, good organisational skills and the ability to function under pressure.
