Home Affairs manages civic services (birth, marriage, and death registration, ID documents, passports) and immigration control (visas, permits, ports of entry). It runs a national network of front-office branches alongside head office policy and back-office processing functions.

Structure

Roles range from front-line client service and immigration officers at branches and ports of entry, to back-office processing, ICT, and policy roles at head office in Pretoria.

Career paths

Many entry-level roles (client service, admin clerks) sit at Levels 3-5. Immigration and civic services officer roles typically require specific vetting and security clearance given the nature of the work.
