Mandate

The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development supports the administration of justice - court administration, state legal services, promotion of constitutional rights, and services like maintenance and small claims courts, working alongside (but distinct from) the judiciary itself.

Structure

Roles range from court administration and registrar clerks at magistrates' and high courts, to legal admin officers, state attorneys, and policy roles at head office.

Career paths

Many administrative posts (registry clerks, court interpreters, admin officers) sit at Levels 3-7. Legal professional posts (state law advisers, prosecutors under the NPA) have their own separate entry requirements.
