Requirements

Grade 10/ABET or a related qualification recognised by SAQA. At least six (6) months' trade-related experience. Skills And Competencies: Ability to read and write. Good communication skills. Basic knowledge of maintenance within the built environment and the ability to carry out routine manual tasks. Basic maintenance skills. Ability to work safely with hand tools and electrical equipment. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Physical fitness to perform routine manual duties. Good time-management skills. Reliability, dependability and attention to detail. Ability to follow instructions. Commitment to occupational health and workplace safety.

Duties

Assist with routine workshop, maintenance and built environment activities under appropriate supervision. Prepare work areas, materials, tools and equipment for maintenance activities. Load, unload and transport workshop materials, tools, equipment and departmental assets as required. Care for, clean and store tools and equipment, and report damaged or defective items. Maintain clean, safe and orderly workshops, plant rooms and work areas in compliance with occupational health and safety requirements. Handle tools, materials and equipment responsibly to prevent loss, damage or misuse. Perform other reasonable duties related to the post as instructed by the supervisor.
