Requirements
Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA in Medical Orthotics and Prosthetics. Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Orthotics and Prosthetist. A minimum of 3 years appropriate experience after registration with the HPCSA in Medical Orthotics and Prosthetics of which 5 years must be appropriate experience in Management. Training in management or public health will be an added advantage. Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the National Health Act and the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA). Public Service Act and related regulations and policies. Service delivery innovation, knowledge management, critical thinking skills and analysis, effective communication, client orientation and customer focus. A valid driver's licence.
Duties
The efficient and effective delivery of clinical and related administrative MOP services. Effective management & control of O&P budget. Administer the operations & good governance of MO&P centre. Conduct Multi-Disciplinary – and Outreach clinics (PHC). Report on service delivery. Measure, manufacture, fit and service MOP devices. Assist in supervision and training and development of subordinates and students. Assist in proper management of stores and inventory. Manage human resources in the MOP centre. Assist in implementing guidelines, protocols, Standard Operating Procedures and policies for the MOP centre that are in line with the National and Provincial strategies. Assist in promoting continuous development and training of self and personnel. Promote a safe and healthy working environment through compliance with relevant legislation including Occupational Health and Safety and other relevant committees and policies in the hospital. Manage, coordinate and develop of MOP services at the institutional level. Implement the program according to the National norms and standards. Monitor and evaluate service delivery and report accordingly. Responsible for developing operational and strategic plans for the department. Manage provision of high-quality services through development and implementation of appropriate systems, quality assurance programs, quality improvement plans and internal controls. Support outreach services to areas where there are no services. Supervise personnel and students allocated to the workshop. Ensure availability of stock for the manufacture and issuing of medical orthotic and prosthetic devices.
