About nursing roles in South Africa

Nursing is one of the most in-demand professions in the South African public health system. The Department of Health across all nine provinces regularly advertises professional nurse, staff nurse, and speciality nursing positions. Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) is a non-negotiable requirement for all nursing posts. Without a valid SANC registration number, your application will be disqualified at the screening stage.

·Always include your SANC registration number and the date of your most recent renewal on your CV and Z83 form.
·Speciality posts such as ICU, theatre, or paediatric nursing require proof of the relevant post-basic qualification.
·Community health nurse positions are frequently advertised in rural provinces including Limpopo, Eastern Cape, and Northern Cape where the need is greatest.
·Your SANC registration must be current at the time of application, not just at the closing date.
