About nursing roles in South Africa

Nursing is one of the most in-demand professions in the South African public health system. The Department of Health across all nine provinces regularly advertises professional nurse, staff nurse, and speciality nursing positions. Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) is a non-negotiable requirement for all nursing posts. Without a valid SANC registration number, your application will be disqualified at the screening stage.

·Always include your SANC registration number and the date of your most recent renewal on your CV and Z83 form.
·Speciality posts such as ICU, theatre, or paediatric nursing require proof of the relevant post-basic qualification.
·Community health nurse positions are frequently advertised in rural provinces including Limpopo, Eastern Cape, and Northern Cape where the need is greatest.
·Your SANC registration must be current at the time of application, not just at the closing date.

About the hiring department

This vacancy is within Department of Education. Government departments in South Africa advertise vacancies through the Public Service Commission and are required to follow a standardised recruitment process governed by the Public Service Act. Applications are screened against the minimum requirements listed in the advert before any CV is reviewed by a panel.

Shortlisted candidates are contacted directly by the department. If you do not receive a response within 90 days of the closing date, your application was not successful. NewGenJobs tracks every application you submit through your personal dashboard so you always know where you stand.
