Requirements

An appropriate B Degree / National Diploma or equivalent qualification in nursing. Minimum of 9 years of appropriate/recognizable nursing experience after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing. At least 5 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognisable experience. Current registration with SANC. Valid Driver’s License (Minimum Code EB). Computer Literacy. Current and previous work experience endorsed by Human Resources validating the above experience. Experience At least one (01) year experience in Supervision/Management OR. One (01) year qualification in Infection Prevention and Control from a recognizable institution of higher learning. Knowledge, Skills, Behavioural Attributes And Competencies Required Report writing abilities. Financial Management skills. Empathy and counselling skills ana knowledge. Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Project management skills. Ability to make independent decisions. An understanding of the challenges facing the public sector. An ability to prioritize issues and other work-related matters and to comply with timeframes. Proven initiative, decisiveness and the ability to acquire new knowledge swiftly.

Duties

Plan, develop and implement an infection prevention and control program in keeping with the IPC standards. Monitor implementation of the National Infection Prevention and Control Strategic Framework. Train and capacitate employees of Infection Prevention and Control practices to develop the necessary insight and sustain an environment conducive to Infection Prevention and Control needs. Organize regular Infection Prevention and Control committee meetings and document the proceedings. Ensure the adherence / supervision of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and clothing for employees and members of the public when needed. Support facilities in the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures in pertaining to IPC waste management, environmental health, cleaning as well as decontamination of medical devices. Participate in annual ICRM/IHRM and IPC 182 Risk assessments to ensure adherence to IPC standards. Capacitate facility IPC champions and schedule quarterly meetings to identify gaps within the IPC program. Monitor facility compliance with conducting awareness campaigns as per WHO and National Department of Health calendar.
