Requirements

Minimum educational qualification: Basic qualification accredited with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) that allows registration with SAPC as a Pharmacist. Registration with a professional council: Registration as a Pharmacist with the South African Pharmacy Council. Experience: A minimum of 3 years appropriate experience after registration as a Pharmacist with the South African Pharmacy Council. Inherent requirements of the job: Valid (code B/EB) drivers’ licence. Willingness to register as a Responsible Pharmacist. Willingness to supervise, tutor and train students and staff. Competencies (knowledge/skills): Knowledge of National and Provincial Health Policies as well as the Acts and Laws that govern the practice of Pharmacy. Ability to cope with pressure and maintain a high standard of professionalism. Good verbal, as well as written communication skills. Sound Management, communication and conflict handling skills. Computer skills (MS Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

Duties

Management of Drug Supply and Prescribing habits in the hospital and sub- district. Manage, assess and monitor compliance wrt Good Pharmacy Practice, Ideal Clinic and National Core Standards. Take leadership in the hospital and sub-district to establish a value driven pharmacy service and implement policies and guidelines in keeping with the Batho Pele, SAPC, National Drug policy, National and Provincial standard treatment guidelines. Human Resource Management for all Pharmacy staff in hospital and support within the 205 sub-district. Management of Finance and Supply Chain. Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and support to Clinical Manager.
