About administrative roles in South Africa

Administrative and clerical positions are among the most consistently advertised roles in both the South African public and private sectors. Government departments in particular have a high and ongoing demand for administrative clerks, especially at salary levels 5 to 7 on the public service scale. These roles form the operational backbone of every department and offer a stable entry point into a public sector career with a clear progression path.

·Government admin roles almost always require a Z83 form and a detailed CV listing all previous administrative experience with exact dates.
·Computer literacy is listed as a requirement in nearly every admin advert. Specify which software you are proficient in, particularly Microsoft Office.
·Many admin roles require a valid driver's licence. If you have one, make it prominent on your CV.
·For Senior Administrative Officer posts, management experience and the ability to supervise staff are assessed during interviews.

About the hiring department

This vacancy is within Judicial Inspectorate for Correctional Services. Government departments in South Africa advertise vacancies through the Public Service Commission and are required to follow a standardised recruitment process governed by the Public Service Act. Shortlisted candidates are contacted directly by the department. If you do not receive a response within 90 days of the closing date, your application was not successful. NewGenJobs tracks every application you submit through your personal dashboard so you always know where you stand.
