Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about using NewGenJobs. Still have a question? Email us at support@newgenjobs.co.za.

What is NewGenJobs?

NewGenJobs is a free South African job platform that aggregates government and private sector vacancies and automatically applies for jobs on your behalf. You fill in your profile once, and we handle the applications.

Is NewGenJobs free to use?

Yes, completely free for job seekers. We are funded through advertising, which allows us to offer all features at no cost. We will never charge you to apply for a job.

How does auto-apply work?

When you click "Apply" on a job listing, NewGenJobs uses your saved profile to complete the application automatically. For government jobs, we generate a completed Z83 form and email it with your CV to the relevant HR department. For online portals, our system fills in the application form on the employer's website.

What is a Z83 form and why do I need one?

The Z83 is the official South African government application form required for all public sector job applications. It was updated in January 2021. NewGenJobs generates a correctly completed Z83 PDF using your profile information, so you never need to fill it in manually.

How do I connect my Gmail account?

Go to your Dashboard and click "Connect Gmail". You will be redirected to Google to authorise NewGenJobs to send emails on your behalf. We only use this permission to send job applications - we never read your emails or contacts.

Can I use NewGenJobs without connecting Gmail?

Yes. You can browse all jobs and use the platform without Gmail. However, to auto-apply for government jobs that require email submission, you will need to connect Gmail or download and send the Z83 yourself.

How do job alerts work?

Once you set up your profile with your province, industry, and qualifications, NewGenJobs sends you personalised job alert emails twice daily at 9AM and 3PM. Each alert contains jobs matched specifically to your background.

How do I upload my CV?

Go to Settings and select the CV tab. You can upload a PDF of your CV. NewGenJobs will store it securely and attach it to every application automatically.

Is my personal information safe?

Yes. We store all personal data securely and never sell it to third parties. Your ID number, CV, and contact details are only used to complete job applications on your behalf. You can request full deletion of your data at any time by emailing support@newgenjobs.co.za.

How does NewGenJobs know which jobs match my profile?

Our matching system looks at your saved province, industry interests, highest qualification, and work history. Jobs in your province within your industry are scored higher and appear in your alerts first.

What government departments does NewGenJobs cover?

We fetch vacancies from the Public Service Commission Circular every week, which covers all national government departments. We also pull from DPSA, provincial government portals, and specific department career pages.

Can I track my applications?

Yes. Every application submitted through NewGenJobs appears in your Applications dashboard with the date, job title, employer, and current status. If you connected Gmail, we also detect employer replies automatically.

What if a job has already closed?

NewGenJobs automatically removes jobs once they pass their closing date. If you find an expired listing please email listings@newgenjobs.co.za and we will remove it immediately.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings, scroll to the bottom, and click "Request account deletion". We will delete all your data within 30 days in accordance with POPIA. You can also email privacy@newgenjobs.co.za.
