NewGenJobs was founded in South Africa in 2024 by a young South African developer who experienced first-hand how exhausting and confusing the local job application process can be. Applying for a single government post meant downloading a Z83 form, printing it, filling it in by hand, scanning it, attaching a CV, and emailing it to a specific HR address, all before the closing date. Private sector applications were not much better, requiring separate logins to each employer's portal.
The idea behind NewGenJobs was simple: job seekers should not need to start from zero whenever an employer asks for familiar information. For supported vacancies, a job seeker can choose the role, review their information and documents, and authorise NewGenJobs to prepare and submit the application through the employer's stated route.
NewGenJobs combines current opportunities, study and funding information, practical career tools and workplace learning. We publish listings from official and traceable sources, and keep a review route open so people can flag information that needs checking.
NewGenJobs is built for anyone in South Africa who is looking for a job, but we have a particular focus on the following groups:
First-time job seekers
Recent graduates and school leavers who are applying for their first job and find the process overwhelming. We guide them through building a profile and completing the Z83 form correctly.
Government job applicants
Anyone preparing for a post advertised in a PSC Circular or through an official public-service route. These applications have strict requirements, so the specific vacancy instructions remain the source of truth.
Job seekers in rural areas
South Africans in rural provinces where internet access is limited benefit from our mobile-friendly interface and automated application system that saves data and time.

Supported, user-authorised applications
For jobs marked Auto-Apply, you choose the role and authorise the use of your saved profile and selected documents. NewGenJobs prepares the supported application route and records the outcome in your dashboard.

Supported email, form and portal routes can use the information you have reviewed. You still need to provide missing details and only submit documents requested for that opportunity.

NewGenJobs is free to use and will always remain free for job seekers. We are funded through contextual advertising that helps keep the platform running without charging our users anything.
We take privacy seriously. We do not sell personal information. Your profile and documents are used only for the services you choose, including a specific application you authorise. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.

The NewGenJobs career blog is written and reviewed by people with direct experience of the South African job market - either as job seekers who went through the process themselves, or as practitioners who have worked in HR, recruitment, or career guidance in South Africa. We do not publish generic career content repackaged for a South African audience. Everything we write is based on how things actually work here: the PSC Circular, the Z83 form, the DPSA salary scales, the SETA learnership system, and the specific challenges South African job seekers face.
Where we reference salary ranges, we base them on advertised positions, publicly available government pay schedules, and published HR benchmarking surveys. We update our guides when regulations change - such as when the Z83 form was revised in 2022 - rather than leaving outdated information live.

NewGenJobs handles personal information - including ID numbers, contact details, CVs, and work history - as part of enabling users to apply for jobs. We take this responsibility seriously and operate in full compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
We never sell your personal information to third parties. We never share your CV or profile with employers unless you explicitly choose to apply for a specific job. Documents you upload for a specific application - certified copies of your ID or qualifications - are deleted immediately after your application is submitted. Your core profile data is retained only for as long as your account is active.
You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing support@newgenjobs.co.za. Our privacy policy explains the process, the information involved and any lawful retention that may apply.
NewGenJobs is free for job seekers. We fund the platform through two revenue streams: advertising displayed on our public pages, and sponsored job listings from employers who want additional visibility for their vacancies.
Sponsored listings are clearly labelled on every job page. We do not allow advertising to influence which jobs appear in search results or which applications we prioritise. The auto-apply service works identically for all jobs regardless of whether the employer has a commercial relationship with us.
We do not charge job seekers to apply for jobs. We do not have a premium subscription tier that restricts auto-apply to paying users. The entire job application functionality is free, and we intend to keep it that way.
